Victory over Japan Day or VJ Day marks the day the Empire of Japan surrendered in 1945, which ended World War II.

September 2, 1945: The formal signing of the surrender documents took place aboard the Battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, which is officially recognized as VJ Day in the United States.

September 3, is marked in China and the Philippines.

August 14-15, 1945: Japan announced its intent to surrender, and Emperor Hirohito's surrender speech was broadcast, leading to massive celebrations in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and other Allied nations.
