Le podcast "Mystic of the Wilderness" explore la vie et les temps de Kateri Tekakwitha, surnommée "la lily des Mohawks". En 1675, à 19 ans, elle rencontre le père Jacques de Lamberville, qui voit en elle un potentiel d'apôtre parmi les autochtones. Kateri se convertit rapidement et commence à fréquenter la chapelle pour recevoir des instructions religieuses. Elle devient une modèle de conversion pour sa communauté, mais son oncle, irrité par sa foi, la pousse à quitter son village pour aller à Montréal. Après une fuite nocturne réussie, Kateri arrive à Montréal où elle trouve un environnement plus paisible. Elle s'engage pleinement dans la vie chrétienne, notamment en recevant la première communion le jour de Noël 1678, ce qui marque le début d'une expérience spirituelle intense. Kateri refuse de se marier et prend un vœu de chasteté, malgré les pressions de sa famille. Elle meurt en 1680, âgée de 24 ans, après avoir souffert de multiples maux. Ses miracles posthumes, y compris des guérisons et des apparitions, ont conduit à sa béatification par le pape Jean-Paul II en 1980.

National Indigenous Peoples Month in Canada pays tribute to Kateri Tekakwitha (1656-80).
At age 19, after converting to Catholicism and taking a vow of perpetual virginity, Kateri left her Mohawk village of Ossernenon in present-day New York State and moved to the Jesuit mission village of Kahnawake, just south of Montreal, Canada.
There she died five years later, respected for her piety and good works.
She was beatified in 1980 by Pope John Paul II, and canonized as a Saint by Pope Benedict XVI at St.
Peter's Basilica in 2012.
