September 9 annually celebrates The Synaxis of Saints Joachim and Anne, the birth parents of Mary, and the maternal grandparents of Jesus — according to long-standing Christian tradition and ancient apocryphal texts, as they are not named in the canonical Gospels.
Synaxis is a Greek term that means a "gathering" or "assembly" for religious worship.
Eastern Orthodox and certain Eastern Catholic churches (such as the Maronite Church) recognize this Synaxis.
The joint feast day of Anne and Joachim is celebrated every year on July 26 by Catholic and Protestant Anglican & Episcopal Churches.
The couple are recognized as the patron saints of grandparents and elders.
Anne is also a patron of mothers, women in labor, and childless couples. Dr.
