Quebec literature podcasts

Meeting authors and their books

A literature podcast often lets you hear an author talk about their work at greater length than in a TV interview: their influences, how they write, their doubts. For readers, it is a good way to discover a book before buying it or to extend a book you have already finished. Publishers and booksellers sometimes speak up to explain how a book comes to life.

• Interviews with novelists, poets and essayists.
• Reviews and reading suggestions.
• Readings aloud of short texts or excerpts.

From the novel to audio fiction

Some shows skip the discussion and tell stories directly. Audio fiction and the books category round out this category, and young readers will find tales among the stories for kids.

Fans of true stories can also turn to the best history shows, which share the same love of storytelling. Moving from a historical novel to a documentary story about the same period also lets you compare two complementary views.

Listening between two books

Audio fits in where reading is hard: during a commute, a walk or household chores. To organize this listening, the guide to first steps explains how to subscribe and download episodes. Speeding up playback slightly sometimes helps you follow a long interview without losing track.

Curious listeners drawn to the big questions will also find food for thought in the religion and spirituality category and in philosophy.
