Does RNA change DNA?

What is RNA?

Did you know that RNA is the foundation of all living organisms?

Did you know that a better understanding of RNA will completely transform medicine, leading to incredible medical treatments that could benefit in particular, people with cancer?

Yet RNA is the target of a great deal of misinformation from the anti-science movement.

We often hear that RNA vaccines against COVID-19 were “out of nowhere” when in fact, RNA has been studied by the scientific community for over 100 years.

In this episode, Karine Choquet, PhD, a professor of functional genomics at the University of Sherbrooke, demystifies RNA and explains what the future holds thanks to the scientific community’s advances in RNA research.dowloadable transcript : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yu5D1EKfDo8bjFoA1cbkh-kWJuE1IYlU/view?usp=sharingOur expert : Karine Choquet holds a Ph.

D. in human genetics from McGill University, where she studied the genetic and molecular basis of rare inherited diseases.

She then completed her postdoctoral fellowship in genetics at Harvard University, where she specialized in RNA biology and nanopore sequencing.

Since July 2023, she has been an assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Functional Genomics at the University of Sherbrooke.

Dr.

Choquet’s research program aims to better understand the mechanisms of RNA maturation and how mRNA splicing defects lead to human diseases.
